This summer experience a ‘behind the gates’ driving tour of RCMP Academy, ‘Depot Division’, where all Mounties are trained.
The RCMP Heritage Centre, in partnership with the Regina Hotel Association, is pleased to offer bilingual guided driving tours of the grounds where cadets have trained since 1885.
Thanks to a sponsorship from the RHA, the RCMP Heritage Centre has two electric people movers to take guests throughout “Depot”.
The tour includes a stop at Regina’s oldest building, the RCMP Chapel, which dates back to the early presence of the Northwest Mounted Police in Regina. During this tour, guests will also see a number of historic buildings and other highlights at “Depot” including: dormitories, classroom buildings, Drill Hall, armoury, firearms building, driving track, Officer’s Mess, “Depot” Cemetery, and the riding stables that are home to two retired Musical Ride horses, Turbo and Salute.
The driving tours depart and return in front of the RCMP Heritage Centre and are included with admission. Tours are offered in both English and French, but please indicate in advance if you require a tour in French.
Driving Tour Protocol:
– Register at Guest Services at the RCMP Heritage Centre
– Bags, purses and backpacks can be stored in lockers in the Heritage Centre as they are not allowed on “Depot” grounds
– All guests must be issued security tags and wear them at all times while on the tour
– Remain with your guide at all times
Driving tours are scheduled daily during the regular operating hours of the RCMP Heritage Centre from May 23 to September 5 and are included with regular admission. One of two people movers is wheelchair accessible. Guests can sign up at Guest Services for a scheduled tour on a first come first serve basis and the tours are between 30-45 minutes in length. Pre-booking is available for groups of 10 or more. To pre-book please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 306.522-7333.
