More than a Man in Scarlet
Scarlet serge, high brown Strathcona boots, Stetson hat. This image is synonymous with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police the world over.
The RCMP Heritage Centre’s latest feature exhibit “More than a Man in Scarlet”, tells the story behind the iconic figure in scarlet serge by shining a light on the diverse roles of the Mounted Police through a display of the “every day” uniforms worn by members on duty.
This exhibit focuses on the past and present of everyday policing in the RCMP to the specialized units across the country including Police Dog Services (PDS), Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Underwater Recovery Team (URT).
“More than a Man in Scarlet” is located in the Feature Gallery in the main exhibit gallery at the RCMP Heritage Centre and is included with admission.
“More than a Man in Scarlet” runs from May 23 to August 31, 2015 and is available for viewing during regular operating hours.
