Red Dress Day – 2023

Over 70 students participated in our Red Dress Day education summit; Wasnokya Omnijayabi. This educational initiative, generously funded by the Government of Saskatchewan’s Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls+ Community Response Fund, was dedicated to exploring the historical and modern perspectives of Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+.

It was led by educational leader Lori Whiteman, retired Member Barry Ledoux, and programming staff from the Centre. Students attended a panel discussion and presentations about the disproportionate violence that targets Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit people in Canada. There was a smudge and water ceremony at the Place of Reflection, and a cultural art activity led by artist Holly Yuzicapi.
