About the Program:

One of the driving factors of the formation of the NWMP was the horrific event of the Cypress Hill Massacre. Learn about the life out in the Northwest Territory, the events and perspectives leading up to the day of the massacre and the aftermath that lead to the NWMP Marching West.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the significance of the relationships between Indigenous Peoples and early settlers.
  • Learn the early history of the creation of the NWMP
  • Learn about the relationship between NWMP and early Indigenous Peoples.
  • Learn about the difference between worldviews as related to the massacre.
