From its very beginnings, horses have played a vital role with the Mounted Police. Today the Force’s equestrian tradition is kept alive by the world-famous black horses and scarlet riders of the RCMP Musical Ride. Brought to you by Nexen, this exhibit celebrates all things Musical Ride, including the return of “Nero” – the popular Musical Ride horse that many visiting RCMP veterans remember from their RCMP Training Academy days at ‘Depot’ Division.

From tack, to lances and uniforms, it is all here – including some interesting answers to questions like, “why are all the horse black?”  Be sure to try out the 3D virtual reality Musical Ride experience created by Talking Dog Studios, and located at the back of this gallery. Hop in the saddle and join the 2015 Musical Ride members as they practice their intricate formations at the training center in Ottawa.
